Review: The scent is quite strong, but the taste is much softer.  The first sip is very sweet.  However, as it makes its way down your throat, the flavour grows quite sour, finally washing down with renewed sweetness.  There is a mixed after-taste, no doubt from the combination of vanilla and chicory root, the latter of which adds a hint of bitterness.  It is an unusual blend of flavours for adventurous tea-drinkers - and we wouldn't recommend it hot.  In fact, we liked it a little bit less with each sip, as the confusing taste accumulated in our mouths.

T2 suggest icing it, so we left the drink to chill overnight.  This definitely improved it.  Cold, you could no longer taste the chicory root (as nice as chicory is, it doesn't work with the other ingredients in this blend).  It would make a great non-alcoholic alternative to Pimms; you could even add chunks of fruit and serve it at a summer party.  For the sake of experimentation, we also tried mixing it with Shloer Rosé.  A little doesn't make much difference, as the tisane is quite sweet anyway (especially once the chicory flavour is toned down), but it does add some party fizz.  Don't add too much, though, as it can quickly become sickly.

The main factor here is the price - £7.50 a box.  It's actually more cost-effective than it seems, as each box makes approximately 40 cups of tea; and as it's a tisane, you can get away with topping it up with boiling water to make a second (albeit slightly weaker) cup, meaning you can stretch the box to make around 80 cups.  But that's a lot of tea, so you have to love the flavour to make this a worthwhile investment.

Best time of year to drink this: Summer - always drink chilled

Best time of day to drink this: Afternoon - particularly in your back garden on a hot, sunny day
