Review: Lemon myrtle, while a real plant, has an overpowering artificial smell, like Lemsip or lemon drops. Consequently, you expect it to be terribly sweet - but it's not. It's even surprisingly nice. It also doesn't have that horrible aftertaste you get with lemongrass (another strangely artificial-tasting plant). It's fresh in the mouth, a bit like drinking menthol but not as strong.
We think this is a good one for when you're a bit under the weather, which makes it perfect for those cold winter months. We can also imagine it being soothing at that time. That said, if you wait too long and drink it when it's cooled down, it becomes very bitter and unpleasant, so be warned.
Also, although this is a lemony tea, don't make the mistake of mixing it with ginger. We tried combining it with T2 Just Ginger and the combination was sickly and disgusting. Lemon myrtle is definitely a solo drink.
As ever with T2, remember that although it costs £7.50 a box, each box makes approximately 40 cups of tea; and as it's a loose leaf infusion, you can get away with topping it up with boiling water to make a second (albeit slightly weaker) cup, or maybe even a third, meaning you can stretch the box to make 80-120 cups. But you have to love the flavour for it to be worth the investment.
