Review: An instant favourite! It smells and tastes just like it promises…but without all the sugar, fizz and calories! We couldn’t really pick up any individual ingredient – everything just blends so perfectly, with a ginger kick at the end, creating a warming, comforting drink to have in the evening – especially if you’re feeling a little warn out or run down. Tulsi started gifting this to family at Christmas, too, and everyone has fallen instantly in love with it – aa definite must-have.

Review: This smells really planty – especially thyme. It’s verges on soapy, probably due to the chamomile. The flavour is mainly thyme and chamomile, too, which means it’s a little sweet; but there are other flavours mixed in there. It’s designed for medicinal purposes, and it really does the trick. Tulsi had a bad cough that faded every time she drank this. It tastes better than some of the other throat teas we’ve tried, too, and it has a unique blend of ingredients that make us think the company really know what they’re doing. It’s a great night-time infusion to relax you even if you don’t have a cold. Highly recommended – a staple, even, to have on stand-by for when you feel run down.

Best time of year to drink this: Anytime, but especially when it’s cold and there’s a higher chance of catching something

Best time of day to drink this: As needed, or in evenings / night-time to unwind

Review: Promoted for supporting healthy skin, we were pleased to find that it’s also nice to drink. The smell is lovely, spicy with a touch of spearmint to freshen things up. The taste is heavy on the spearmint, but then you find a deeper flavour that’s slightly bitter and ‘well rooty’, as one of us described it. We think that’s the burdock.

This is one that gets better the more you drink. It delicately balances bitter with lightly sweet, and it has a pleasant aftertaste, not to mention that wonderful, wakeful feeling of spearmint in your mouth. It’s light and earthy, and a vibrant one to have in the morning. We can also imagine it being good for when you have a cold, digestive problems, or simply when you want to unwind in the evening.

As of this writing, it seems this is now quite difficult to get your hands on unless you live in Love Tea’s native Australia. We previously bought it at Planet Organic, so perhaps you can find it in a similar store near you. You can also order it online through Love Tea’s official website.

Best time of day to drink this: Anytime (but it would be especially good in the morning, or after a meal)

Yogi Turmeric Chai – We don’t understand this https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/18/yogi-turmeric-chai/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/18/yogi-turmeric-chai/#respond Sat, 18 Sep 2021 12:53:12 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=1627 Yogi Turmeric ChaiBrand: Yogi Tea

Review: Another turmeric blend, but we aren’t fans of this one.

The ingredients list is a little bizarre. When you hit ‘cocoa shells’ near the end, your eyebrows go up automatically.

Although 55% is turmeric, you can’t smell it much over the spices. That set flavour expectations. Disappointingly, it didn’t taste much of spice. The liquorice overpowers just about everything. Then, long after we’ve drunk it, there’s a lingering turmeric aftertaste. That’s it – no cardamom or pepper or apple, and certainly no coca flavour! We’re not sure why Yogi thought this needed sweetness. It would be so much nicer without it. Some might like it, but we don’t see the point. It’s like turmeric chai for people who don’t like turmeric or chai.

Pukka Turmeric Active – Yes, we DID need another turmeric blend! https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/15/pukka-turmeric-active/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/15/pukka-turmeric-active/#respond Wed, 15 Sep 2021 21:32:49 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=1568 Pukka Turmeric ActiveBrand: Pukka Teas

Organic Ingredients: 100%

Price Range: £2-3

Our Review: Not contented with just one turmeric blend, Pukka added this one to the market. And did we need another one? Turns out: yes! This is a totally different animal.

The aroma is lightly orangey with only a hint of the turmeric this blend is named for. You can definitely taste the turmeric when you drink it, but there’s a definite fruity undertone, and a bit of gingery warmth. The other ingredients don’t stand out but blend together to give an overall soothing experience. While their Turmeric Glow blend is 20% green tea, this one is caffeine-free; and despite its name, it feels more relaxing than wakeful. It’s lovely and gentle, and a great one to have in the autumn when the leaves are falling and it’s starting to get cold. It’s also chock full of herbs traditionally used to tackle symptoms of seasonal illness.

Review: Now, we know what you’re thinking – elderberries, no! But stick with us, because this is one of the best teas out there. It’s also significantly different from their standard Sleepytime blend.

The scent is minty, with a planty undertone. It’s earthy, restful and soothing. The flavour is more flowery, like a fruity, floral spearmint. Stevia leaf gives a hint of sweetness but in just the right dose, without overpowering the blend. In fact, even if you dislike half the ingredients that go into this one (we’re not great lovers of lemongrass or elderberries, or straight chamomile), the balance here is spot on. Every sip is a special moment in itself. It’s smooth and gorgeous and refreshing and best of all, it knocks you right out within a half hour of drinking it. You will absolutely look like that bear on the box (cap and nightgown are optional).

They seem to have rebranded this one a number of times, with a new ‘Immune Boost’ variety that we haven’t yet tried. In our experience, adding vitamins to a tea just comes out tasting like…vitamins. The ‘Complete Care’ variety, however, is a definite must-have for any tea lover, especially if you struggle with insomnia.

Yogi Echinacea – A most confusingly delicious blend! https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/13/yogi-echinacea/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/13/yogi-echinacea/#respond Mon, 13 Sep 2021 12:16:17 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=1627 Yogi EchinaceaBrand: Yogi Tea

Review: A most confusingly delicious blend! Bewilderingly, it smells like apple, although there is no apple in the ingredients list – not just apple, but warm, hearty things, with a mildly spicy edge and a hint of sweetness.

The taste is most identifiably rooibos, despite this only forming 10% of the blend. There is then the flavour of spiced apple – again, we can’t tell you why. Perhaps it’s the carob. Whatever it is, the overall effect is warming, sweet, smokey and flavoursome. It’s a great one to have in the evening and quickly became one of Tulsi’s husband’s favourites on the shelf. We doubt you’ll be able to pick out any one ingredient as you drink it – or work out why it’s named Ecihinacea – but it’s a good bet that you’ll love it.

Yogi Throat Comfort – Great for a sore throat, but sooooo sweet https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/12/yogi-throat-comfort/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/12/yogi-throat-comfort/#respond Sun, 12 Sep 2021 15:27:53 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=1627 Yogi Throat ComfortBrand: Yogi Tea

Review: This is a great one if you have a cold. It’s chock full of herbs traditionally used to sooth a sore throat, and if you drink this alongside their Breathe Deep blend, you’re sorted.

That said, we wouldn’t touch it if we weren’t ill. It smells medicinal and antiseptic, and the flavour is so sweet. We also don’t find it as effective or as pleasant as Tisane dal Mondo’s Respiro infusion. That one temporarily relieves a cough after just one cup, while Throat Comfort soothes but leaves you hacking away. So if you’re happy to order imported tea online, we recommend that blend over this. If you’re looking for something you’ll find in mainstream UK shops, Throat Comfort is a good one to keep in the cupboard for when you need it.

Best time of year to drink this: Anytime – more likely winter

Best time of day to drink this: Most times of day, but especially later, after meals, because it’s just so sweet

Tisane dal Mondo Benessere (Welfare) – Mild but intriguing https://teastimonials.com/2021/05/23/tisane-dal-mondo-benessere-welfare/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/05/23/tisane-dal-mondo-benessere-welfare/#respond Sun, 23 May 2021 11:47:23 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2267 Tisane Dal Mondo Benessere - Reviewed by If Teacups Could Talk....Brand: Tisane dal Mondo

Our Review: Another one brought back to us from Italy. This was an intriguing one – intensely yellowy orange in colour, and it smells just like a smoothie…but hot. It was a bit strange, but intriguing!

The flavour, however, is like drinking an orange Creamsicle: a type of orangey ice lolly filled with vanilla ice cream. For whatever reason, this tea is very sweet. You can’t taste much of the carrot or turmeric for the orange rind.

At the same time, the overall flavour is quite weak, like watered down orange juice. It’s pleasant enough, but we prefer a stronger taste. We wish it included ginger rather than turmeric, as that would give it the kick we think it needs. But some people want a milder tea, so if that’s you, then this is worth a try, especially on a cold evening.

Our Review: Some of you are probably thinking, ‘Artichoke tea???’ We thought the same, and that’s why we just had to buy this and try it.

The main reason you would drink this is for the health benefits. Boiling artichoke leaves means infusing the water with some of the zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium and A, B and C vitamins natural to the plant. It’s also a good antioxidant. All of this put together could help with immunity, digestion, anxiety, stress and cholesterol problems, and it’s great for the skin. Maybe you want all of that but you’re not fond of eating cooked artichokes, in which case this simple tea is for you.

On the other hand…maybe you’re not fond of eating cooked artichokes, in which case…this won’t be the tea for you! Because it really does taste of artichoke (of course) – that, and (weirdly) unsweetened digestive biscuits. It also has that biscuity smell, though we’re not sure why.

This won’t be for everyone, that’s for sure, but some of you will definitely be interested in it for the health benefits mentioned above – or maybe you just love artichokes! Whether this is your cup of tea or not, be careful not to overbrew it or it can be very bitter and stringent – not awful, but it carries a strong aftertaste.

Best time of year to drink this: Any time

Best time of day to drink this: Lunch or dinner, as it really does taste of the vegetable
