Review: You know when you come across a tea and you can’t even remember buying it? Just us? Okay, then! So, we know what you’re thinking: ‘What a catchy tea name! I can’t imagine what it might taste like!’ To start, it smells exactly like Indian guaranga potatoes – in other words, savoury. Even before you pour the water, if you jiggle the bag you get peppermint…and then guaranga potatoes. There is no other way to describe it. Tulsi loves guaranga potatoes, so you’d think this blend would be a winner. Alas, it’s a bit uninspiring. It’s very planty, with a savoury edge. Minty…and then, you know…potatoes. There’s a mild hit of heat from the ginger, but not much else. It’s definitely not bad, but we weren’t blown away. Tulsi did crave potatoes, though.

Review: It smells…gingery! Just as we’d hope. The flavour is actual ginger root. We mean that it isn’t sweet; it’s more like dry ginger pieces. It’s fresh and cleansing, fiery but also soothing. There’s a nice kick to it when you swallow it down, and we can easily imagine having this on a chilly autumn evening, to help us wind down and aid digestion.

Royal Green Mighty Mint – Fairly boring https://teastimonials.com/2023/01/07/royal-green-mighty-mint/ https://teastimonials.com/2023/01/07/royal-green-mighty-mint/#respond Sat, 07 Jan 2023 19:05:17 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=979 Royal Green Mighty MintBrand: Royal Green

Review: You really shouldn’t be able to go wrong with this combination…but they manage it. Despite being 100% mint, it doesn’t actually smell very mint. It even smells a little like liquorice! The flavour, then, is pretty average. Nothing about it stands out, not even as much as some of the straight peppermint brews we’ve had. There’s no real spearmint flavour. And after a while…it gets a little unpleasant to drink. It’s certainly not ‘bad’. It’s just…not that great compared to other options on the market.

Review: Despite the name, it smells overwhelmingly of liquorice, threatening to be intensely sweet. Thankfully, it doesn’t taste as strong. In fact, it hardly tastes of anything. It’s water, with a mild gingery kick…and that’s about it. We left the bag in for ages, but we never got any mint, and the fennel was swallowed up by other ingredients. It’s not bad, but we didn’t see the point. It certainly didn’t deliver what the name promises.

Review: This smells delectable, like chocolate and mint, just as the box promises. We accidentally over-brewed it, but even then, the flavour was lovely. It’s earthy but fresh, due to the mix of tea, cacao and wakeful spearmint. You can’t really taste the other ingredients, although they probably add to the blend. Although it includes flavouring, it doesn’t taste artificial. It’s a gentle treat we can imagine being perfect after lunch, to cleanse the palate and help you resist the urge for calorific chocolate.

Review: It quite literally smells like toothpaste. The flavour is initially very startling (no one expects to drink toothpaste!)…but then it gets better. It’s just so minty fresh…then bitter…then spicy (the black pepper KICKS at the back of the throat)…with a lingering feeling of coolness. It’s a highly confusing drinking experience. It’s definitely wakeful, and it would clear your breath after a meal out. The oils are just so strong that we wouldn’t personally drink this casually.

Review: We were very excited to try this one, when we saw uncommon tea ingredients like alfalfa and carrot on the list. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that interesting to drink. As you might expect, it smells and tastes quite grassy, but with a touch of citrus…and that’s about it. We couldn’t identify any of the other ingredients. But it’s very good for you, particularly if you struggle with acid reflux. This one’s designed to cool that down and make you feel more comfortable after a big meal. Just don’t expect it to wow you with flavour – that’s not why you’ll pick this one up.

Review: Promoted for supporting healthy skin, we were pleased to find that it’s also nice to drink. The smell is lovely, spicy with a touch of spearmint to freshen things up. The taste is heavy on the spearmint, but then you find a deeper flavour that’s slightly bitter and ‘well rooty’, as one of us described it. We think that’s the burdock.

This is one that gets better the more you drink. It delicately balances bitter with lightly sweet, and it has a pleasant aftertaste, not to mention that wonderful, wakeful feeling of spearmint in your mouth. It’s light and earthy, and a vibrant one to have in the morning. We can also imagine it being good for when you have a cold, digestive problems, or simply when you want to unwind in the evening.

As of this writing, it seems this is now quite difficult to get your hands on unless you live in Love Tea’s native Australia. We previously bought it at Planet Organic, so perhaps you can find it in a similar store near you. You can also order it online through Love Tea’s official website.

Review: This is a very hard one to review because it’s a hard one to describe.

The smell is gorgeous, bright in that way you get with spearmint, even though there’s no spearmint in the blend. Whatever peppermint they use, it’s an ultra-fresh variety that awakens all your senses.

The flavour is strong on mint, as well…but then it gets a little confusing. We were hoping for something like Twinings Buttermint, but this is completely different. We couldn’t really taste the vanilla…or the liquorice. It isn’t sweet, like we expected. It’s more like bright, fresh mint infused with that heavy, earthy taste of pu’erh tea…and then some bitterness that we couldn’t explain. The flavours didn’t quite mix, for us.

It definitely wasn’t awful, but it was a bit odd. We can imagine people liking it, but it wasn’t really our cup of tea.

Review: This is quite an unusual one! The smell is indescribable – a bit sweet (perhaps from the sarsaparilla), but it’s impossible to discern any individual ingredients.

The flavour is equally complicated. It’s heavy on the liquorice, with a strong (bitter) dandelion aftertaste. It doesn’t really taste like chai or chocolate, and wasn’t our cup of tea…but we can imagine someone out there really liking it, especially on a cold afternoon. Just don’t go into it expecting chai or a hot chocolate substitute. There’s just too much liquorice and dandelion to taste the rest.
