Review: Ooh interesting, having more orange and hibiscus than rooibos. It’s quite a medley of ingredients you usually see in different blends. Sadly…maybe there’s a reason they aren’t usually mixed together, because the flavour is mild hibiscus and hot water, with a slightly minty aftertaste. It’s like one of those ‘a touch of fruit’ water drinks but boiled. One of those rare teas that lives up to its name, it truly is ‘exceptionally ordinary’.

Review: A bit of an odd one because we were given this as a free sample but there were no further details on the packaging and it was never listed on their online sales page. There seems to be no record of it on the Internet, but we’re reviewing it anyway! It smells a bit medicinal and like Red Hots sweets…so it might contain the American variety of cinnamon. We also suspect it might have kola nuts. It tastes like Red Hots, too, but subtler than expected. It didn’t excite us, but we also didn’t dislike it. It probably doesn’t matter because you can’t actually buy it! But it wasn’t our favourite.

Best time of year to drink this: Ummm…you can’t buy it, anyway, so….

Review: So, as you can see…this is a medley of teas mixed together. The aroma is fragrant, earthy and smoky, and it tastes earthy, too – well-rounded, rich and malty. It packs in so much more flavour than your ‘standard’ black tea. We loved it and would happily drink more.

Review: Smells like tea, tastes like tea. From their Fairytale collection, this is a light, mellow blend. It’s basically black tea but with a creamy texture and a faint citrus edge, making it less bitter than your average tea. The vanilla makes it slightly sweet, which is good if you’re the type to add sugar to your tea but you want to cut back. It isn’t the most exciting blend we’ve ever tried, but it was nice enough.

A Tale of Two Teas Spinning Wheel – WOW that’s a lot of clove! https://teastimonials.com/2022/11/13/a-tale-of-two-teas-spinning-wheel/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/11/13/a-tale-of-two-teas-spinning-wheel/#respond Sun, 13 Nov 2022 23:25:57 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2280 Brand: A Tale of Two Teas

Caffeine Factor: Caffeine-free

Price Range: £7.99 for 50g

Review: From their Fairytale collection, this is essentially a Christmassy chai blend. The aroma is very strong – especially on the orange. It’s like cleaning products – Harpic, specifically. (Someone in our office said it smelled like ‘unhappiness’. Tulsi’s husband described it as ‘treacle’.) The flavour was better than we expected, although the cloves are intense, so your mouth is numb almost immediately. Maybe it’s meant to mimic the experience of touching the spinning wheel and falling unconscious?? It’s quite sweet, too. We really couldn’t taste anything but cloves and citrus. But it wasn’t bad, and it would certainly be good after a painful trip to the dentist. We can definitely see people liking it. Just…don’t brew it for the 7-10 minutes recommended on the bag…because wow.

A Tale of Two Teas Butter Ale – Like long-burnt caramel https://teastimonials.com/2022/11/07/a-tale-of-two-teas-butter-ale/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/11/07/a-tale-of-two-teas-butter-ale/#respond Mon, 07 Nov 2022 09:37:28 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2280 Brand: A Tale of Two Teas

Review: Another from their Witchcraft & Wizardry collection, this time inspired by Harry Potter. The ingredients lists sounds amazing until you hit that butterscotch flavour. Then you think, No no no no NO! And that’s about how the drinking experience goes. The smell is horrible, like burnt sugar, and very fake. The taste is not as strong but incredibly artificial, with an awful, lingering aftertaste. We couldn’t taste the cocoa at all, just generic sweet and bitter simultaneously…and long-burnt caramel. Ginger managed to ‘suffer through’ the rest of the cup but Tulsi couldn’t have any more. This is an AVOID.

A Tale of Two Teas Always – How would YOU describe it? https://teastimonials.com/2022/10/09/a-tale-of-two-teas-always/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/10/09/a-tale-of-two-teas-always/#respond Sun, 09 Oct 2022 15:14:00 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2280 Brand: A Tale of Two Teas

Ingredients: White peony tea (pai mu tan)

Caffeine Factor: Caffeinated

Organic Ingredients: Unknown

Price Range: £7.99 for 50g

Review: This is from the Witchcraft & Wizardry collection. Now, get this…it smells…like…tea. Amazing, right? That’s because although it’s called ‘white peony tea’, it is a kind of white tea made from the young tea leaves and unopened leaf buds. It tastes a little like green tea, but softer. It’s subtly floral, with a flavour that’s more complex than you’d expect from just one ingredient. We found it difficult to describe – it was a very confusing tea, more so than some other white teas we’ve tried. We enjoyed it and wanted to keep drinking just to try to find the right words to explain the taste. We never got there, and so you’re stuck with this incredibly vague review, instead! You’ll just have to buy it and see for yourself.

Review: This comes from their Witchcraft & Wizardry collection. As you’d expect, it smells like black tea…and chocolate. The flavour is quite chocolatey too (yay!) – a little like having hot chocolate without the calories. However, it’s smokier than that, probably because it uses dark chocolate and no milk. It’s more like a coffee substitute than anything else. We can imagine it waking you right up on a difficult morning. Just be careful not to brew it too long, or to put too much of it in the cup, because it gets strong very quickly!

Review: Another one from the fairytale collection. It has a very pleasant aroma, like being in the woods, with a fruity tartness. We could immediately imagine wild raspberry bushes. The flavour is like a mellowed green tea. It’s nice and fresh, and not bitter at all. However, for all that raspberry in the ingredients list, we couldn’t taste it. It’s not the fruitiest of teas, nor the most exciting. It’s just a nice green tea, for people who usually find green tea a bit too strong.

Review: Another one from the fairytale collection. You can smell it from a long distance – it’s so sweet and strong, and very red – reminiscent of hardboiled strawberries and cream sweeties. Thankfully, the flavour is a little milder. It manages to be tart and sweet at once, without getting overwhelming like you’d get if they had thrown in liquorice (people, stop putting so much liquorice in every tea!). You might think this is yet another one of these hibiscus and rosehip teas, but they strike a much better balance than a lot of similar blends on the market. It’s a delicious dessert tea that manages to be strong without going over the edge, and we got through the bag very quickly. Highly recommended!
