Our Review: This smells very planty, but the taste is much more flavourful than that. It’s a bit like chamomile flower, but not too floral. If you’re expecting elderflower cordial, bear in mind that the flower on its own is not sweet at all. It’s really pleasant and gentle. Tulsi’s son had the idea that sweetening it with honey might be ‘flabbergastingly nice’ – it wasn’t. Just take this one plain, and enjoy how soothing it is!

Our Review: This is another one that smells like lemon-scented kitchen cleaner. The flavour is thankfully milder, although we didn’t get any of the fig, mango or flowers promised in the ingredients list. It’s just lemony, and then sweet at the end. That said, it’s quite nice, and the other stuff thrown into the mix takes some of the edge off that lemongrass taste, which we normally find too strong. Just don’t buy this thinking you’ll taste much more than citrus. It’s more like a softer lemon drink than most on the market. We can imagine it being very nice iced, on a hot summer afternoon.

Our Review: We sooooo wanted to love this…but they’ve spoiled a great idea by throwing in those flowers. It smells a lot like T2’s Red Choc Mint (one of our absolute favourites), but with quite a chocolatey after-whiff! Strangely, you can’t really taste that. The flavour is bitter (probably from the calendula) and heavy on the mint (as if they’ve used the essential oil)…with some chocolate as an afterthought. They tried too hard to be different by throwing in extras that we don’t think need to be there. They ruin the delicate balance of the main ingredients, and at that price tag, we wouldn’t bother with this one. It’s not bad…but there are better variations on this idea.

Caffeine Factor: Caffeine-free

Organic Ingredients: Unknown

Price Range: £10

Tin Size: 125g

Our Review: This one is so much fun. It smells citrusy – like lime – and it tastes like it, too! With some apple. Despite all the flowers, it’s not too floral until the aftertaste – there’s a bit of an ‘after-floral’, you could say. It has a subtle sweetness. It’s a hard one to describe – complex and distinct, interesting without being mind-boggling. It’s soothing and a good one for having in the evening, at the end of a long day. We also highly recommend adding lemon juice, which a) makes it taste even nicer and b) changes the colour from a rich bright blue to a gorgeous purply pink in your cup – magic! Just be careful not to overdo the lemon juice. We think it tastes best when the blend shifts into a kind of dark fuchsia rather than going all the way pink.

Our Review: Bean peels…??? Crazy! The smell is savoury, like a curry plant rather than tea or even fruit…although there is a hint of citrusy sweetness buried deep, deep, deep underneath. The taste is very pumpkin-like, and strong on spice. So it definitely does what it says on the tin. But…is that a good thing?? It is so unusual, and not really the kind of thing you’d want to drink. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if they ditched the fruit. It doesn’t quite mix with the pumpkin. The taste is so strong that it slaps you in the face. It’s sharp and tinged with artificial flavours. It’s very rich and indulgent and not something you could drink every day. We ended up throwing it away (but keeping the beautiful tin!), because we could find no one who wanted to drink it. That said…it’s so odd that someone out there might actually enjoy it in a way that we didn’t. So it’s not an avoid…but you have to be prepared for it.

Our Review: Wow – all that…and no flavour! It smells pretty and sweet, like a garden in full bloom, with a touch of fruit. The taste is bland and watery, with a slight bitterness from the tea…and then there isn’t a whole lot more. We left it to brew for a looong time and couldn’t get more out of it. It’s not awful, but we don’t see the point of this.

Our Review: Another truly bizarre, unnecessarily imaginative list of ingredients. It smells very strongly of fruit, and the taste is way too sweet for us. It overrides all other flavours, like someone lumped in buckets of sugar. That said, it is tropical, so if you are the type to add loads of sugar to your tea, this might be for you, as an after-meal treat. But we couldn’t have more than one sip because it was just so sickly.

Tea People Moringa Passion Fruit – Candied fruit and root vegetables!? https://teastimonials.com/2022/06/23/tea-people-moringa-passion-fruit/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/06/23/tea-people-moringa-passion-fruit/#respond Thu, 23 Jun 2022 12:45:20 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=94 Tea People Moringa Passion FruitBrand: Tea People

Our Review: Hmmm…. It smells acidic…with maybe some papaya, and a background hint of beetroot. The mix is not appealing. The flavour, then, is your average fruit tea, as if it has hibiscus, even though it’s not in there. Then it changes. We get a bit of an earthy undertone…and watery vegetables. It’s okay, but it doesn’t really blend well. It’s just…odd. Who ever thought candied fruit would go well with beetroot and carrots?? (The Tea People, obviously, but you know….) So it’s not terrible, but we wouldn’t personally buy such a big tin of such a blend.

Our Review: Right. So. It smells like slightly fermented fruit, and you can see chunks of it in the bag inside the tin. The flavour sinks to the bottom of the cup, so you have to stir the drink constantly to keep things consistent. Then when it hits you…yuck. It’s a combination of almost tasting like nothing…and then ew. It leaves a citric acid feeling in the mouth, so it’s sweet and acidic at the same time…and generally horrible. We don’t know how this passed the taste test, or how the flavouring can be marked as natural, because it really doesn’t taste like it. This was an instant AVOID.

Tea People Coffee Truffle – Coffee for people who don’t like coffee https://teastimonials.com/2022/06/21/tea-people-coffee-truffle/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/06/21/tea-people-coffee-truffle/#respond Tue, 21 Jun 2022 12:25:40 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=94 Tea People Coffee TruffleBrand: Tea People

Flavour: Coffee Truffle

Ingredients: Black tea, pu-erh tea, cocoa bits (14%), coffee beans (7.5%), flavouring

Caffeine Factor: Caffeinated

Organic Ingredients: Unknown

Price Range: £10

Tin Size: 125g

Our Review: The ingredients list really caught our interest. They’re obviously trying to be imaginative, blending two types of tea, cocoa and coffee. Tasting it, it’s kind of like coffee for people who don’t really like coffee…or maybe people trying to fight a coffee addiction. It smells slightly savoury, while the flavour is surprisingly mellow. Initially, you just get tea, then comes the chocolate flavour, and finally the coffee. It takes time to evolve in your mouth, making it a bit of an interesting experience. It’s very earthy – deeper and darker than just black tea, but not as bitter as coffee. The cocoa seems to round it off. All that said…we didn’t love it. But we can definitely see others thinking it’s the best thing they’ve ever had. And you have to think that to buy it, because it’s £10 for one of the most gorgeous tins you will ever take home…but there are 125g of the stuff. It takes months to get through it, especially since you can re-brew. So if you don’t like it…well, you’re going to be drinking it a lot to get it off the shelf. For that reason, we recommend getting a sampler pack with a cheaper price tag, ordered off their website, www.teapeople.co.uk.
