Review: There’s camomile and there’s camomile…and this is just plain water. It smells and tastes of nothing, even after you leave it brewing for ages. There is just no point to this. It’s not an ‘avoid’, but you’re so much better off getting the Twinings blend. It’s cheaper and far more flavoursome.

Best time of year to drink this: Anytime

Best time of day to drink this: Evening (if there is even anything in this blend that will sedate you like proper camomile does)

Review: There isn’t a lot to say about this one, as it’s only one ingredient. It’s fruity and mild, with no funny aftertaste, and quite pleasant to drink…but you could say that about any rooibos tea.

That said, Tulsi’s teenage son, who is a rooibos enthusiast, commented, ‘Right here, right now, this is good rooibos – but Tick-Tock is better.’ It’s also more readily found in major shops, so we can’t see The London Tea Company’s offering being specifically sought out over other brands.

The London Tea Company Vanilla Chai – Too sweet for us, but might appeal to some https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/18/the-london-tea-company-vanilla-chai/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/09/18/the-london-tea-company-vanilla-chai/#respond Sat, 18 Sep 2021 13:03:37 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2318 The London Tea Company Vanilla ChaiBrand: The London Tea Company

Review: It smells HORRID, like too-sweet super-fake flavouring…and then black tea.

Thankfully, it tastes better than it smells. It’s your basic spiced black tea blend, but with that aftertaste all tea flavouring has. It’s a bit sweet and might be better taken with milk. It might appeal to some black tea drinkers who use a LOT of sugar and are looking to cut back on calories. We greatly prefer more natural, less sweet variations on this blend, though.

London Tea Company Peach & Rhubarb – Stop Putting Peach in Tea! https://teastimonials.com/2021/08/22/london-tea-company-peach-rhubarb-stop-putting-peach-in-tea/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/08/22/london-tea-company-peach-rhubarb-stop-putting-peach-in-tea/#respond Sun, 22 Aug 2021 10:06:45 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2406 Brand: The London Tea Company

Caffeine Factor: Caffeine-free

Review: Just stop, stop, stop putting peach flavouring into tea blends – stop it! It’s always awful. It always comes out fake tasting, no matter how ‘natural’ it is. Rhubarb – same advice. And stop telling us it’s peach and rhubarb tea when it’s just hibiscus, apple, rosehips and sweet blackberry leaves…AGAIN. There must be a hundred thousand of these on the market. Can we please do something different!?

The smell of this one is overpoweringly artificial and sweet. The flavour is similar – but pretty much all peach. We couldn’t taste the rhubarb at all. Who even knows what the beetroot is doing in there! Then there is a horrible after-taste of citric acid – an after-sourness, if you will. If you have to try that hard to create the taste you’re aiming for, it’s not worth doing. Go make something genuinely herbal.

This is an AVOID.

The London Tea Company Zingy Lemon & Ginger – Unforgivably Named & Confusing https://teastimonials.com/2021/07/25/the-london-tea-company-zingy-lemon-ginger/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/07/25/the-london-tea-company-zingy-lemon-ginger/#respond Sun, 25 Jul 2021 10:13:00 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2354 The London Tea Company Zingy Lemon & Ginger - Reviewed by If Teacups Could Talk...Brand: The London Tea Company

Review: The smell of this is very hard to define. It’s sort of like lemon sweets – maybe lemon sherbets or lemon drizzle cake – with just a hint of ginger.

The taste is confusing. First, you’re hit with sweet apple. Then there’s a hint of lemon. Then, in the back of the throat, you get bitter chicory root. Finally, as you reach the bottom of the cup, it becomes undrinkably sweet and artificial berry flavouring lingers in your mouth.

There will be people out there who like it, but it wasn’t for us. It’s hard to know which palate this tea is aiming for. You can’t really relax into it because it’s doing too many different things that don’t blend together into one experience. And for something that calls itself Zingy Lemon & Ginger, it’s rather unforgivable that only 11.5% of the blend is actually lemon and ginger.

The London Tea Company Raspberry Inferno – Raspberry…and chilli pepper!? https://teastimonials.com/2021/07/04/the-london-tea-company-raspberry-inferno/ https://teastimonials.com/2021/07/04/the-london-tea-company-raspberry-inferno/#respond Sun, 04 Jul 2021 14:28:02 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2318 The London Tea Company Raspberry Inferno - Reviewed by If Teacups Could Talk...Brand: The London Tea Company

Review: How can you name your blend ‘raspberry inferno’ and only have 1% raspberry in the ingredients list??

This is an extremely confusing one. It smells like grassy hibiscus (not pleasant) and tastes like curry, with apple crumble on top. There is no other way to describe it. It’s physically sickening after the first few sips. And it’s unsurprising, because look at what this is: your typical generic fruit tea (apple, hibiscus, sweet blackberry leaf and elderberries – yuck!), jazzed up with raspberry (okay) and chilli (what!?). This isn’t a combination anyone in the world has ever before thought would work – and with good reason.

It’s savoury and sweet at the same time, in a gross way, with that thick, blood-like texture elderberry blends always have. It gets worse the more you drink it, and we’re baffled that it’s still on the market. For us, this is an obvious AVOID.
