Review: It smells like a bunch of flavouring…with a touch of fruit. The flavour isn’t too bad…because you can’t really taste anything. It’s like water…and then a hint of…something. Maybe chamomile. Yet, despite all that, there’s then an aftertaste that really lingers. This might be the addition of B12 – and flavourings. The combination strips your mouth with fakeness. All that said, we’ve had worse and can imagine someone – maybe – enjoying this. We just…no, we won’t be buying it again. There are much better alternatives out there.

Review: It smells like rooibos with artificial vanilla. The flavour is also strong on the rooibos, a little creamy, and very sweet…and very fake. For that reason, it’s not for us. However, we can imagine some people liking it. The main issue is the price. It’s so expensive for something that is ultimately a very generic tea with artificial flavouring. It’s not terrible, but we don’t see why anyone would bother. It’s also a total mystery why the safflowers are in this blend or what they’re meant to add to the taste.

Review: It smells like creamy rooibos…and maybe a little fruity…with a hint of spice. It tastes…gross! Unsurprisingly, it’s completely artificial. That’s what you get when most of the ingredients are flavouring with flavouring with other flavouring. Perhaps it’s named ‘Inner Strength’ because that’s what you need to get through a cup of it…? Definitely an AVOID.

Review: As you’d hope, it smells rosy and figgy! The flavour is delicious. It’s a smooth white tea with no bitterness and a light rosiness that manages not to taste of perfume. It’s so figgy, too, blending perfectly with the rose petals without being overpowering. Keep in mind that Tulsi doesn’t even like figs – but this is so gentle and delicious. It’s really special – a definite must-have!

Review: It smells like…tea and hazelnut flavouring – really sweet. The taste was surprising. We expected an overwhelming hazelnut flavour, but it’s more like gentle black tea with a subtle sweetness. It doesn’t taste artificial. In fact, it gets nicer with each sip and makes a very pleasant brunch treat.

Twinings Peppermint and Strawberry – Truly unusual https://teastimonials.com/2023/02/18/twinings-peppermint-and-strawberry/ https://teastimonials.com/2023/02/18/twinings-peppermint-and-strawberry/#respond Sat, 18 Feb 2023 12:14:04 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2337 Twinings Peppermint and StrawberryBrand: Twinings

Review: The aroma is peppermint…and something weird…and the flavour is almost impossible to put into words. Bear with us here, but it’s like mint…that has strawberry in it…but you can’t taste the strawberry. Then there’s a peppery heat afterwards, which lingers for a long time. Trying again – it’s kind of like an earthy mint leaf with the actual stalk of a strawberry and then a bit of a kick. Really unusual! We’re not sure what we think of it but we love that Twinings did something creative. It’s not bad, but we expect people to be divided. At that price tag, though, it’s worth trying out!

Review: It smells like cleaning products…and it tastes cleaning producty, too. We had to fight to taste any raspberry. The box says there’s ‘a hint of rose petals’ but we found the rose before any fruit, unless you count the horrible citric acid feeling in our throats. Ginger asked, ‘Could it be nicer cold?’ Tulsi said, ‘It’d just be cold cleaning products.’ After a while, Ginger asked, ‘Why am I still drinking this??’

Twinings Strawberry and Elderflower – Would make a great summer iced tea https://teastimonials.com/2023/02/12/twinings-strawberry-and-elderflower/ https://teastimonials.com/2023/02/12/twinings-strawberry-and-elderflower/#respond Sun, 12 Feb 2023 10:36:57 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2337 Twinings Strawberry and ElderflowerBrand: Twinings

Price Range: Around £2-3

Review: It smells like hard strawberry sweets, e.g. fruit pastilles / Haribo strawberries. One of us quipped that it’s ‘berry sweet’ – groan. The flavour is very similar to the smell, but with a subtle hint of elderflower cordial. There’s also an interesting earthy flavour, likely from the juniper berries. That might all sound like a vile combination, but it’s quite pleasant. We can imagine it iced in the summer, with fresh mint leaves, although it works as a hot dessert tea, too. And despite all the ‘flavours’, it tastes completely natural. We would happily buy this again…though it should be noted that we apparently had it the wrong way. The box says you have to drink it in a ‘glass mug’!

Twinings Dark Caramel – One of the most artificial things we’ve ever tried https://teastimonials.com/2022/12/31/twinings-dark-caramel/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/12/31/twinings-dark-caramel/#respond Sat, 31 Dec 2022 19:03:39 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2337 Twinings Dark CaramelBrand: Twinings

Review: Take a look at that ingredients list…now, predict what we thought of this blend. The smell is awful – like flavoured instant porridge, when you first open the packet. The taste is intensely sweet – reminiscent of artificial, sugar-free caramel syrup, like you’d add to coffee. In fact, the whole thing is coffee-like…as in, some flavoured concoction you’d get somewhere like Starbucks. Not straight coffee. We’re not marking it an avoid because we imagine there will probably be people out there who like it – but we couldn’t stand it. It has the most yuck aftertaste, as well. Just…no. That one got immediately donated to the office cupboard, where we work.

Review: First of all…spice flavouring?? Why not just use real spices? The result of going the artificial route is that almost all you can smell or taste is clove. After just one sip, we couldn’t feel our mouths. It’s medicinal, almost…but also strangely watery, with a hint of black tea at the end. It’s not terrible…but there are definitely better chai options on the market.
