Review: Just as the blend promises, it smells mainly of chamomile and valerian, with citrusy notes. The taste is as you’d expect, too – slightly sweet chamomile, balanced out by orange peel and general tartness. The overall blend is pleasant and soothing, a lovely brew for autumn evenings. We also really like that you can see whole chamomile flowers in each bag. A highly recommended night time tea.

Review: Cucumber slices, in a tea? Yes! And you can really see them! Just as the name promises, it smells and tastes just like non-alcoholic gin. It’s cucumbery and fresh, and even a little fiery, perhaps intended to be like quinine. It’s gin-like but milder – pleasant when had hot, but we can also imagine it being nice cold on a summer afternoon. Best of all, it stands out as different from many of the usual tea blends on the market.

Review: It smells as expected – mainly of cloves. The taste is natural, despite the addition of flavouring. It’s your typical chai, but without the bitterness because there’s no black tea. It’s actually impressive that they manage to recreate that flavour without the tea. It’s very clove-y, but it doesn’t overpower and numb your mouth. The star anise makes it slightly sweet, so we would have this as a dessert tea. Very pleasant.

Review: Another from their Witchcraft & Wizardry collection, this time inspired by Harry Potter. The ingredients lists sounds amazing until you hit that butterscotch flavour. Then you think, No no no no NO! And that’s about how the drinking experience goes. The smell is horrible, like burnt sugar, and very fake. The taste is not as strong but incredibly artificial, with an awful, lingering aftertaste. We couldn’t taste the cocoa at all, just generic sweet and bitter simultaneously…and long-burnt caramel. Ginger managed to ‘suffer through’ the rest of the cup but Tulsi couldn’t have any more. This is an AVOID.

Review: Another one from the fairytale collection. You can smell it from a long distance – it’s so sweet and strong, and very red – reminiscent of hardboiled strawberries and cream sweeties. Thankfully, the flavour is a little milder. It manages to be tart and sweet at once, without getting overwhelming like you’d get if they had thrown in liquorice (people, stop putting so much liquorice in every tea!). You might think this is yet another one of these hibiscus and rosehip teas, but they strike a much better balance than a lot of similar blends on the market. It’s a delicious dessert tea that manages to be strong without going over the edge, and we got through the bag very quickly. Highly recommended!

Review: This is such a cute idea for a tea company! All the flavours are themed, taking inspiration from literary classics. This particular blend comes from the fairytale collection. It smells like its tea base, but also strongly of rooibos…and amorphous fruitiness. The actual tea flavour is subtle, even after a long brew; it’s not bitter at all. The rooibos also isn’t particularly overpowering. We found it hard to identify the individual fruits, but there was a mild sweetness and tartness. The ingredients blend together well – so well that we wondered why more brands hadn’t thought to mix a tea base with fruit, to take the edge off things. All in all, this wasn’t the most exciting blend we’ve ever tried, but it was really pleasant and we can see a lot of people enjoying it.

Our Review: This one is so much fun. It smells citrusy – like lime – and it tastes like it, too! With some apple. Despite all the flowers, it’s not too floral until the aftertaste – there’s a bit of an ‘after-floral’, you could say. It has a subtle sweetness. It’s a hard one to describe – complex and distinct, interesting without being mind-boggling. It’s soothing and a good one for having in the evening, at the end of a long day. We also highly recommend adding lemon juice, which a) makes it taste even nicer and b) changes the colour from a rich bright blue to a gorgeous purply pink in your cup – magic! Just be careful not to overdo the lemon juice. We think it tastes best when the blend shifts into a kind of dark fuchsia rather than going all the way pink.

Our Review: Bean peels…??? Crazy! The smell is savoury, like a curry plant rather than tea or even fruit…although there is a hint of citrusy sweetness buried deep, deep, deep underneath. The taste is very pumpkin-like, and strong on spice. So it definitely does what it says on the tin. But…is that a good thing?? It is so unusual, and not really the kind of thing you’d want to drink. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if they ditched the fruit. It doesn’t quite mix with the pumpkin. The taste is so strong that it slaps you in the face. It’s sharp and tinged with artificial flavours. It’s very rich and indulgent and not something you could drink every day. We ended up throwing it away (but keeping the beautiful tin!), because we could find no one who wanted to drink it. That said…it’s so odd that someone out there might actually enjoy it in a way that we didn’t. So it’s not an avoid…but you have to be prepared for it.

Our Review: Another truly bizarre, unnecessarily imaginative list of ingredients. It smells very strongly of fruit, and the taste is way too sweet for us. It overrides all other flavours, like someone lumped in buckets of sugar. That said, it is tropical, so if you are the type to add loads of sugar to your tea, this might be for you, as an after-meal treat. But we couldn’t have more than one sip because it was just so sickly.

Our Review: Hmmm…. It smells acidic…with maybe some papaya, and a background hint of beetroot. The mix is not appealing. The flavour, then, is your average fruit tea, as if it has hibiscus, even though it’s not in there. Then it changes. We get a bit of an earthy undertone…and watery vegetables. It’s okay, but it doesn’t really blend well. It’s just…odd. Who ever thought candied fruit would go well with beetroot and carrots?? (The Tea People, obviously, but you know….) So it’s not terrible, but we wouldn’t personally buy such a big tin of such a blend.
