Review: We love the name – and thankfully it doesn’t disappoint as a drink. It smells planty, florally and soapy – which you might not think sounds appetising, but this is a nice one. We don’t normally like lemongrass, but in this blend it’s balanced so well by the rose, while the cocoa shells give it an earthy flavour, so you don’t feel like you’re drinking kitchen cleaner or perfume. It’s a gorgeous combination, bright and vibrant, making it a perfect pick-me-up in the middle of the day.

Review: Cucumber slices, in a tea? Yes! And you can really see them! Just as the name promises, it smells and tastes just like non-alcoholic gin. It’s cucumbery and fresh, and even a little fiery, perhaps intended to be like quinine. It’s gin-like but milder – pleasant when had hot, but we can also imagine it being nice cold on a summer afternoon. Best of all, it stands out as different from many of the usual tea blends on the market.

Review: So, the thing is…we don’t really like lemongrass. Setting that aside, this is still not the best lemongrass tea you could buy. It smells like water. As Ginger Tea put it, ‘I have never known a lemongrass tea that smelled less of cleaning product.’ The taste, too, is so weak. Like water, again, but vaguely lemony, with a tiny kick from the cinnamon. It’s a decent enough lemony tea with no artificial aftertaste. But it’s just so weak that we don’t see the point. And why even bother with the 2% cornflower??

Review: It smells…gingery! Just as we’d hope. The flavour is actual ginger root. We mean that it isn’t sweet; it’s more like dry ginger pieces. It’s fresh and cleansing, fiery but also soothing. There’s a nice kick to it when you swallow it down, and we can easily imagine having this on a chilly autumn evening, to help us wind down and aid digestion.

Sons of Asgard Midgard – A maté blend we actually love! https://teastimonials.com/2022/11/27/sons-of-asgard-midgard/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/11/27/sons-of-asgard-midgard/#respond Sun, 27 Nov 2022 16:01:21 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2280 Sons of Asgard MidgardBrand: Sons of Asgard

Review: This is such an interesting one, because we don’t like maté…but we really liked this. It smells like lemongrass…and more lemongrass…and maybe a little spearmint. The flavour is so nicely balanced, though, that both the lemon and maté blend right in with the other ingredients and become something new. It’s refreshing, a little sweet and very soothing – citrusy but mild. Not bitter and not like cleaning product – simply delicious. Another winner from them!

Time2Sleep Cocoa Brownie – Lovely, but don’t expect chocolate https://teastimonials.com/2022/09/25/time2sleep-cocoa-brownie/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/09/25/time2sleep-cocoa-brownie/#respond Sun, 25 Sep 2022 16:02:29 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=2280 Time2Sleep Cocoa BrownieBrand: Time2Sleep

Organic Ingredients: All organic except the natural flavouring

Price Range: £9.99 for 50g

Review: Such an unusual idea – chocolate infused with lemon to make a sleepytime time! With a name like Cocoa Brownie, we expected it to smell strongly of chocolate; but it’s largely lemon. That said, it’s not as strong as some of the other lemon blends we’ve tried, which usually bring to mind cleaning products. The flavour is complex, even confusing. It’s lemony but mild, with a belated cocoa taste. It doesn’t really taste of brownie, but it’s soothing and unusual – and we like unusual. It’s even a little malty at the end, which reminded us both of drinking Ovaltine as children. All in all, it’s a lovely blend to sooth you off to sleep at the end of a long day. Just don’t expect it to be very chocolatey.

Tea People Fruity Vervain Delight – A softer lemony tea https://teastimonials.com/2022/07/24/tea-people-fruity-vervain-delight/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/07/24/tea-people-fruity-vervain-delight/#respond Sun, 24 Jul 2022 12:05:50 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=94 Tea People Fruity Vervain DelightBrand: Tea People

Our Review: This is another one that smells like lemon-scented kitchen cleaner. The flavour is thankfully milder, although we didn’t get any of the fig, mango or flowers promised in the ingredients list. It’s just lemony, and then sweet at the end. That said, it’s quite nice, and the other stuff thrown into the mix takes some of the edge off that lemongrass taste, which we normally find too strong. Just don’t buy this thinking you’ll taste much more than citrus. It’s more like a softer lemon drink than most on the market. We can imagine it being very nice iced, on a hot summer afternoon.

Tea People Blue Apple Lime – The funnest tea we’ve ever tried https://teastimonials.com/2022/07/03/tea-people-blue-apple-lime/ https://teastimonials.com/2022/07/03/tea-people-blue-apple-lime/#respond Sun, 03 Jul 2022 20:55:33 +0000 https://ifteacupscouldtalk.wordpress.com/?p=94 Tea People Blue Apple LimeBrand: Tea People

Flavour: Blue Apple Lime

Caffeine Factor: Caffeine-free

Organic Ingredients: Unknown

Price Range: £10

Tin Size: 125g

Our Review: This one is so much fun. It smells citrusy – like lime – and it tastes like it, too! With some apple. Despite all the flowers, it’s not too floral until the aftertaste – there’s a bit of an ‘after-floral’, you could say. It has a subtle sweetness. It’s a hard one to describe – complex and distinct, interesting without being mind-boggling. It’s soothing and a good one for having in the evening, at the end of a long day. We also highly recommend adding lemon juice, which a) makes it taste even nicer and b) changes the colour from a rich bright blue to a gorgeous purply pink in your cup – magic! Just be careful not to overdo the lemon juice. We think it tastes best when the blend shifts into a kind of dark fuchsia rather than going all the way pink.

Review: We were worried about the peach smell, especially when there’s no peach in the ingredients list. It must be the flavouring. It was very strong and we were dreading drinking it. We had good reason. It’s not very exciting – it’s just bleh. The flavouring ruins whatever else it might be, because it is so artificial, and it lingers disgustingly in your throat for ages afterward. Chamomile and rooibos also don’t mix well together. It’s incredibly sweet. With each sip, the experience gets worse. It’s a definite AVOID.
